Hojicha Latte Powder: Roasted Japanese Tea, Made Creamy

ORIN Afternoon Hojicha is a vegan, dairy-free hojicha latte powder made with roasted Japanese hojicha, coconut and oat. It makes a smooth, toasty hojicha latte at home in seconds, hot or iced, with no whisk or café visit required.

What is hojicha?

Hojicha is a Japanese green tea that is roasted over high heat after the leaves are harvested and dried. Roasting turns the leaves a reddish-brown colour and gives the tea its warm, nutty, slightly caramel flavour. To learn more, read our guide What Is Hojicha?

Hojicha vs matcha

Matcha tastes fresh, grassy and vibrant, while hojicha is mellow, toasty and comforting. Many people who find matcha too intense enjoy hojicha as a softer tea latte. Both are tea-based, so both naturally contain tea caffeine. If you want a fresher morning cup, try Morning Matcha; for a gentle afternoon reset, hojicha is a natural choice.

How to make a hojicha latte

Stir 10g (about 2 teaspoons) into 100ml of hot water or warm plant-based milk for a classic hot hojicha latte. For an iced hojicha latte, mix the powder with a little water until smooth, pour over ice and top with cold oat or soy milk. A touch of kinako (roasted soybean powder) in the blend adds extra nutty depth.

Dairy-free and plant-based

Afternoon Hojicha uses a coconut and oat base instead of milk powder. It contains soy and gluten (oat), so please review the full ingredient list above if you have dietary requirements.

Absolutely loved the hojicha latte! 🍵✨ It has a lovely roasted, nutty and a bit touch of coconut flavour with just the right amount of sweetness. Smooth, creamy and comforting without being too heavy. I also love that it’s completely vegan and dairy-free, so everyone can enjoy it. Definitely a drink I’d order again!
